♥ INTERNET EMPOWERS PEOPLE.
HOHOHO. GP ENTRY 2. T.T
Topic:
How far is it true that internet empowers ordinary people? It is more than just one computer network, it is the make-up of billions (and counting) of computers' network, virtually joined through a network called the internet. Internet is a network of networks.
Servers and programs created for the internet have been increasing restlessly, more and more websites are surfacing, and number of users have increased by leaps and bounds since the year internet was introduced. This fact alone, has empowered creative, smart, hardworking visionary individuals, to earn money, build a business and possibly, a fortune. Many individuals have created miracles for themselves by grabbing opportunities given by the vast internet audience to develop and introduce programs which they forsee to be in great demand by the society. Creaters of online messaging, social networking sites, online dating websites, blogs, and search engine companies like google have allowed ordinary individuals to turn extraordinary, and from rags to riches. Google's inventors, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, saw the chances internet could possibly give with its amazing power to do tonnes of operations per second, and leveraging on internet's wonders, they produced Google. An extraordinaire from 2 ordinary indivduals proves internet's ability to empower people. All these could have not been possible if this network of networks do not exist.
These awesome programs and websites on the Internet have influenced a big part of our lives.
The idea of a network of networks can empower ordinary individuals by allowing his or her voice to be heard. On media like radios and television, the advocators are people of the governmental level, or people from the top of the social hierachy. People of the pariah status of have few chances for their opinions to be heard publicly. In singapore, sharing corners such as the speaker's corner was opened for singaporeans to speak freely (amongst the many regulations) and to share their opinions with the audience. It was an effort made to allow sharing between opinionated singaporeans, but the limited number of audience garnered caused the downfall of the speaker's corner. Internet, however has an infinite number of audience, with boundaries exceeding people of our own country. The sharing made can finally be shared, and voices can then of course, be heard. Thus, internet has empowered ordinary people with thoughts to be shared have their voices heard.
Moreover, Internet allows an ordinary individual's personalities to be visible. On the Internet, it is much easier to seek companions who share the same interests and develop communities. This provides a platform for sharing and timely updates can be obtained. Individuals can form fan clubs for their favourite artist with other fans worldwide through the internet. The knowledge of the existent of this group of people who share similar interest and love, and hence able to go crazy fan-girling together can bring immense joy to one. The ability of the internet to provide such joy and entertainment is a proof of its empowerment.
