Strengths and weaknesses of NYGG
1 million deeds challenge
- similar to the Girl Guide’s “A Good Turn a Day”.
- do deeds of Excellence, Friendship and Respect within their communities
- share these deeds at the Million Deeds Challenge
- every deed posted will move the virtual flame a step closer from Greece to Singapore, travelling through all 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs).
Centenary Celebration
- In 2010: plant, introduce – this can be trees, food plants or flowers or a symbolic ‘seed of change’.
- In 2011: expand, grow – let the seeds of change grow, expand existing plantations to bring about change or bring symbolic “growth”.
- In 2012: dedicate, pass on, share – dedicate the plants, your achievements and share them with your community. Pass on your “harvest” literally or symbolically.
Project 5G 2006 (Girl Guides Garner Granny Generation)
- GGS partnered MCYS (Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports)
- Spanning two years, Project 5G provided a structured and coherent programme to develop senior citizens as valued resources, and through sustained organized activities, achieve the desired outcomes of developing stronger inter-generational relationships amongst Brownies and their traditional /extended family members.
Project Postcard
- In partnership with Singapore Tourism Board, GGS organized a World Thinking Day Project Postcard on 6 November 2007. More than 400 Brownies and Guides met in Guide House to write postcards together as part of Thinking Day greetings to sisters in Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting internationally.
